Situated along the eastern bank of the Allegheny River roughly 13 miles northeast of Downtown Pittsburgh, Verona is a charming, 0.5-square-mile riverfront borough with a rich rail-and-industrial heritage. Incorporated in 1871, the town derived its name as a portmanteau of two early Allegheny Valley Railroad stops: Verner and Iona.
