Rich Historical Roots

Settled on land originally owned by Daniel Houston—a relative of Texas legend General Sam Houston—the borough developed as a stop along the Chartiers Valley Railroad in the 1870s before incorporating in 1901. The town retains much of its vintage Western Pennsylvania character along Western Avenue and Main Street.
