Curious about how your street was named?
There are a few different ways your street might have been named:
Developer - with housing plans - usually, the developer gets to choose the street names...and inspiration could come from anywhere - their children's names, employees, or even their favorite food!
A Resident - the family or resident that lived on that street when it was named
Grids - 1st, 2nd, 3rd street - a logical way to navigate a city
Important People - Washington Street (or Perry Como if you're from Canonsburg!) is probably in every city!
Landscape - Hickory, Pine, Summit - ways to describe the area's geography
Main Street - this one stuck from the "olden days" when there was only one main street!
